The Streaming Platform is Producing a Popular Game TV Show from the Minds of the Alien Series and It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia.

The newest action-packed game that players dived into was Far Cry 6, that showcased Giancarlo Esposito in the role of the bad guy, Antón, and debuted on October 6, 2021. As a series, it is famous for embracing action and mayhem with equal excitement, all while weaving captivating, politically driven narratives. Little surprise that the network’s recent announcement for a Far Cry anthology series pulled in two producers whose projects have embodied all of those things.

Show Details

Inspired by Ubisoft's popular video game series, the self-contained anthology series will stream on Hulu and be produced by FX Productions. The anthology will also mirror the video games' format by featuring a different backdrop and cast of characters in every instalment.

Creative Minds

Rob Mac, producer of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, and Noah Hawley, the mind behind FX's Alien: Earth and Fargo, will serve as lead producers on the series under their labels, More Better Productions for Mac, and 26 Keys for Hawley. They will be accompanied by Emilia Serrano for 26 Keys, Nick Frenkel for 3 Arts, Jackie Cohn for More Better Productions, John Campisi, Gerard Guillemot, Margaret Boykin, and Austin Dill for Ubisoft Film & Television.

“FX has had outstanding relationships with Rob Mac and Noah Hawley for a collective six series and 32 seasons of television, and we couldn’t be more excited that they are joining forces for Far Cry,” stated Nick Grad, President, FX Entertainment, in a news release. “I have no doubt that they will present this story in a way that is original, gripping, and incredibly entertaining. We also want to appreciate our associates at Ubisoft for entrusting us with this popular property.”

What’s Next

Mac will also appear in the show, but at the time of writing, we do not know what part that may be. Hawley's Alien: Earth was recently renewed for a second instalment, with FX and Disney finalizing a new long-term contract with the producer.

“Getting to work together with Noah Hawley is a fantasy come true,” stated Rob Mac. “Ubisoft has been exceptionally generous, trusting us with one of the most renowned video-game universes ever created. And along the way, my FX family constantly supports me with their ongoing belief and backing.”

“What appeals to me about the Far Cry game series is that it’s an anthology-style program. Each game is a interpretation of a idea, the same way every series of Fargo is a version on a story,” explained Hawley. “To develop a epic action show that can shift from year to year, while always exploring the core of people through this multifaceted and chaotic perspective, is a dream come true. I’m eager to collaborate with Rob and bring our mutual bold, ambitious style to the audience.”

A time frame for when we can expect the new Far Cry show has not yet been revealed. The series will stream on Hulu in the United States and on Disney Plus internationally.
