The President Welcomes Loved Ones of Injured National Guard Members to the White House
Former President Trump stated on Sunday that he has invited the relatives of a Guard member tragically killed last week to attend the presidential home.
He mentioned that he conversed with her family and they were “heartbroken”.
Information on the Heartbreaking Incident
Specialist Beckstrom, twenty years old, was killed in a violent incident on last Wednesday in the nation's capital.
Her colleague, Staff Sgt Andrew Wolfe, 24, remains hospitalized in grave state.
Vigils across the state have taken place in their honor.
Presidential Invitation
The president explained he’s proposed a White House visit for the parents of both members of the state Guard.
“I stated: ‘When you’re able, because that’s a difficult moment, come to the White House. We’re going to honor her,” the president informed reporters. “And in the same way with him, recover or not.”
Public Response
Mourners came together over the past few days at the high school in West Virginia to remember Beckstrom.
Both they had been fulfilling duties with the military unit as part of the president’s government program to aid public safety in Washington DC.
Paying Tribute to the Soldier
“She was the kind of student that teachers hoped for. She carried herself with calm resilience, a contagious smile and a optimistic attitude that encouraged those around her,” Hankins, the leader of her former high school, stated to the Associated Press. “She was caring, compassionate and always eager to help others.”
Funeral details for Beckstrom are still being arranged.
Legal Actions and Policy Revisions
Officials have accused a 29-year-old individual from Afghanistan with a charge of first-degree murder and charges of violent assault while armed.
The tragedy prompted the administration to pause refugee claims and temporarily stop issuing visas to owners of passports from Afghanistan.
Condition of Andrew Wolfe
Wolfe, a native of the city, enlisted in early 2019 and is a graduate of his local high school, as reported by the Associated Press.
He is still undergoing care and is “fighting for his life”, the state’s governor Patrick Morrisey stated on television.
The state’s top lawyer Bondi informed Fox News Sunday that she planned to visit the family.
Memory of Beckstrom
Sarah, from Summersville, graduated from Webster County high school in June 2023 and began her service not long after, serving as a military police officer with excellence, as stated by the West Virginia National Guard.
“She had a lot of goodness and she definitely had bravery,” Morrisey told the gathering at the memorial. “Though her life was cut short, she has made an impact that’s going to endure.”
