The network's Premier New Show of 2025 Gets a Major Renewal for Seasons 2 and 3.
Last October, the late-night programming block saw the return of its offbeat hit, Smiling Friends. But, shortly thereafter, the network launched a completely new animated series with a distinctly unique feel. Haha, You Clowns proved to be sweet and soothing, reminiscent of a cartoon version of a serene talk show. At a time often marked by cynicism, this show's wholesomeness resonated deeply and helped it become a surprise hit.
A Two-Season Greenlight
On December 18th, the network made a major announcement: Haha, You Clowns has been picked up for a further two seasons. This gives showrunner Joe Cappa a massive runway to further explore the world of the Campbell family. The series centers on three well-mannered teenage brothers whose defining trait is their profound affection for their single father, with Cappa portraying for all four main characters.
"I am incredibly thankful to the audience of the show who gave *Haha, You Clowns* a chance and helped it grow," stated Cappa. "It's thrilling that I get to spend more time in the Campbell household for the foreseeable future."
Network Praise
Accompanying the news praise from Adult Swim president Michael Ouweleen, who described the series as "profoundly sincere and oddly captivating." He thanked the fans who found the show and supported its uniquely offbeat appeal.
"All of you got behind this new show, championed for it on social media, and grew it week over week so we could approve not one, but two more seasons," noted Ouweleen. "To quote: 'You are strong! You are loved!'"
A Different Kind of Comedy
When it first aired, Haha, You Clowns was hailed as "a wholesome alternative" to other adult animated fare. It offers something surprisingly comfy about following this charming family navigate their daily lives.
In earlier interviews, creator Joe Cappa shared his desire to help comedy break out of its current cynical streak. He traced this trend to a broader media landscape.
“We're stuck in a cycle of irony that we can't get ourselves out of,” explained Cappa. “It's like we have to know we’re the cleverest viewer in the room when we're watching stuff. I feel like we've been doing this for 10 years, and we must laugh at something different now. The genre needs to change.”
The Path Forward
Now, with Haha, You Clowns set to continue, Cappa could potentially be part of that very evolution. At a minimum, the renewal ensures audiences more opportunities to enjoy the heartfelt moments of the beloved Campbell clan.
The season 1 finale of Haha, You Clowns is scheduled to air on December 21st. The complete first season is currently streaming on HBO Max.
