Fresh particulars have surfaced about the untimely passing of renowned director Rob Reiner and visual artist Michele Singer Reiner, whose remains were located at their Brentwood, Los Angeles residence on Sunday.

The Initial Report

According to a report citing a person close to the family, a practitioner arriving for an appointment first raised the alarm after not being able to enter the house. The practitioner then reached out to the couple's daughter, Romy Reiner, who lives close by.

After gaining access to the home, Romy came upon her father's body. Accounts indicate she then exited the property overwhelmed with grief, without knowing at that moment that her mother's body was there as well. Her roommate who had accompanied her contacted 911. Afterward, first responders located Michele Singer Reiner's body.

Criminal Proceedings

Authorities have formally accused the couple's 32-year-old son, Nick Reiner, with two counts of premeditated murder, as well as the alleged use of a deadly weapon, said to be a knife. He is presently being held and is ineligible for bail.

The anonymous source questioned several earlier details. It was stated that while Romy Reiner told first responders that her brother Nick resided in a detached unit on the estate, she did not name him as a potential suspect at that juncture.

Additionally pushed back against circulated notions that Rob and Michele Singer Reiner had been unusually "worried" about Nick's conduct in the preceding period. Instead the family was "used to working through [Nick's] problems together."

According to law enforcement officials, the coroner had yet to determine as of Tuesday whether the Reiners died late on Saturday or on Sunday. Some media reports suggested the condition of their bodies pointed to they had been deceased for some hours.

Nick Reiner was taken into custody at approximately 9:30 p.m. on Sunday in the Exposition Park, about 15 miles from the scene. He was set to be arraigned on Tuesday, but his lawyer, Alan Jackson, indicated his client had a medical issue and would be unable to attend until no sooner than Wednesday.
