Experience this Reimagined Legendary Journey: A Complimentary Trial for DQ7 Reimagined Lands Shortly.
Enthusiasts eagerly awaiting the arrival of Dragon Quest 7 Reimagined can get a head start too much longer. An highly anticipated trial experience is set to go live on Jan. 7, offering a generous look into the game's beginning segments. Notably, all progress made within this demo can be transferred directly into the complete game upon its subsequent debut.
More Than a Simple Remake: The Thorough Overhaul
This project constitutes a comprehensive re-envisioning of the landmark year 2000 role-playing game, first known as Dragon Quest VII: Fragments of the Forgotten Past. Taking a significant departure from other Dragon Quest re-releases, such as the recently launched HD-2D iterations, this reimagining utilizes a charming three-dimensional visual presentation. Environments have been crafted to resemble detailed miniature worlds, with characters featuring a delightful toy-like design.
"Even with the previous remake, the main quest was still quite extended. Therefore, we came to a conclusion that we wanted to tighten the story, [and] craft an adventure for modern audiences."
Significant Mechanical Improvements & Updates
Square Enix has introduced numerous changes to streamline the classic experience. Among these are:
- Expedited Field Battles: Inspired by modern role-playing games, low-level foes are now dispatched directly on the overworld map without initiating a separate traditional battle sequence.
- Adjustable Combat Speed: Gamers have the option to speed up combat animations to quickly power through simpler encounters.
- Expanded Job System: One completely new job class was added for this reimagining. Furthermore, characters now have the ability to master a second job, greatly enhancing customization possibilities.
These refinements are aimed at tackle a key the 2000 game's frequent criticisms: its considerable playtime. That initial main quest was known to require more than 100 hours to see through. The new version has been specifically reworked to refine pacing and cut down on any repetition.
